Art and Meditation
A seven day, eight precept meditation retreat with Ajahn Jotipalo and Sakula Reinard
The endeavor of this retreat is to participate in the activity of icon painting as a vehicle to empower participants to use art and creativity as a means to learn about the mind and the meditative process. This is a retreat for ‘Experienced Meditators’ – lay people who have had a regular meditation practice for some years and have attended at least one 7-day residential retreat. This retreat is for anyone comfortable with any medium of the creative process, be that pencil/pen, paint, photographs, music, writers, etc., and who are willing to explore, under guidance, with icon painting. The retreat includes morning and evening meditation periods and plenty of open hours for our creative process.
Instructions will be offered throughout the day as well as a tea time for casual Q n’ A.
All materials for the retreat will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring one or more image(s) that provide inspiration for their practice. The retreat starts at 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 22, with a teatime orientation led by Ajahn Jotipalo and Sakula Reinard.
Prerequisite: Participants should have a regular meditation practice and have sat at least one 7-day, 8-precept, residential retreat.
