Urban Weekend Retreat with Joseph Kappel and Sakula Reinard

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – March 16, 17 and 18, 2018

The anchor theme of this retreat will be Sila, and will be based on the following two suttas:

  1. Abhisanda Sutta – Rewards: accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/an/an08/an08.039.than.html
  2. Vipaka Sutta – Results: accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/an/an08/an08.040.than.html

For those attending, we ask that you take time to read both suttas. They will be introduced Friday evening, drawn from and further explored during the Saturday daylong and touched on for the Sunday gathering as well. This retreat is suitable for all levels of participants wishing to investigate these suttas and how to apply them to their everyday lives.

5:30 – 6:40 pm  Tea and Dhamma conversation with the teachers
7:00 – 9:00 pm  Meditation and Dhamma talk by Joseph Kappel

Saturday Daylong:
9:00 am – 5:00 pm  Daylong with a potluck meal at noon – optional tea and conversation, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
No late arrivals for the daylong though you may depart early if need be.

10:00 – 11:30 am  Sunday Sila gathering
12:00 – 2:00 pm  Potluck and casual conversation with teachers and each other.

Note: We’d like to encourage everyone to consider attending as much of these three offering as possible. However, to make this urban retreat available to as many folks as possible, you can attend any event on its own.
